The origin
The Bristol began in Belgrade in 1912, and everything the name carries was built there: the arrival, the discretion, the sense that someone has thought of it before you have. A residence cannot inherit that by borrowing a logo. It inherits it by standing next to the hotel that still practises it.
The building it came from
Nikola Nestorović built it between 1910 and 1912, on Karađorđeva Street a few steps from the Sava. It has since housed the Rockefellers, Tito, Kasparov and Momo Kapor. Its recent restoration took more than two and a half years — sixteen artists worked on the façade alone, alongside the Belgrade City Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments, and the interiors were returned to French Art Nouveau with Eastern European motifs.
